Based on IPC’s design documents, the IPC-2220-Series of Design Documents, this 2 day training will introduce you to the design standards, and give you information about the things you need to consider, before you start your layout, following the 2 days is a 1 day examination. Basic (CID) designer certification materials: IPC-2221, Generic Standard on Printed Board Design: IPC-2222, Sectional Standard on Rigid Organic Printed Boards: IPC-D-325A, Documentation Requirements for Printed Boards: IPC-T-50G, Terms and Definitions for Interconnecting and Packaging Electronic Circuits: and PWB Designer Certification Study Guide (hardcopy and CD).
The Advanced (CID+) certification materials: a PWB Advanced Designer Certification Study Guide (hardcopy and CD). All references to the IPC standards are included in the study guides.
This program assesses a designer´s knowledge of how to transform a schematic into a reliable rigid PCB design, which can be easily manufactured, assembled and tested. The IPC Designers Council recognizes that the most effective designers must have a solid foundation in PCB fabrication and assembly. The certification test is based on several critical IPC documents that link design principles to the end product use of the printed circuit assembly. Designers may purchase study materials and prepare on their own or enroll in a two-day IPC Designer Certification Preparation workshop, the workshop training provides an in-depth view of the principles contained in the examination and is strongly recommended for anyone interested in obtaining the certification.
Certification testing is done at the workshop location the day after a course concludes. Individuals who do not feel prepared to take the test immediately after the training may choose to keep their exam voucher and take the test at a later date.
