Learn to assess posture and movement patterns, recognise myofascial relationships, and create effective movement strategies. FAMO Body Reading & Rebalancing provides a practical framework for therapists, movement teachers, and bodyworkers.

BODY READING & REBALANCING

The FAMO Body Reading & Rebalancing course develops advanced skills in assessing posture and movement patterns, recognising myofascial relationships, and creating coherent movement programs within a structured framework. This approach enhances your competence and confidence in both one-to-one sessions and group settings.

Designed for movement teachers, manual therapists, bodyworkers, yoga and Pilates instructors, and healthcare professionals who want to deepen their understanding of posture, movement, and myofascial relationships.

ABOUT THE COURSE

The posture-based movement program addresses both short-term goals, such as pain reduction, enhanced wellbeing, and increased energy, as well as long-term objectives, including postural balance, sustainable movement function, and vitality.

The course content is directly applicable in one-to-one settings and highly valuable for group classes.

Upon completing the course, you will have trained your eyes and mind to evaluate the body's geometry, recognise common myofascial patterns, and create coherent posture-based movement programs. Along the way, you will also gain valuable insights into your own posture and movement patterns.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

By participating in this course, you will:

• Identify the essential attributes of a successful body reader and the individual being assessed.

• Understand the value and significance of the three fascial movement qualities—tensile strength, adaptability, and kinaesthesia—within the context of body reading.

• Learn the seven-step Body Reading process.

• Recognise six common postural patterns: four relating to the pelvis and spine, one focusing on ribcage volume, and one on the shoulders, arms, and hands.

• Learn posture-based movement strategies for all six patterns using fourteen carefully selected FAMO Practice 1 exercises.

• Understand proprioceptive and interoceptive criteria when using these exercises for movement assessment or as part of a posture-based movement program.

• Gain new insights into your own body alignment.

COURSE HIGHLIGHTS

The course begins by exploring the qualities of a skilled body reader and the individual being assessed, as well as the importance of both external observation and internal self-perception. We also revisit the three fascial movement qualities (FAMO Focus) that are essential for integrative body reading and movement strategy.

From there, we explore the seven-step process of Body Reading. You will learn to assess structural relationships, evaluate the alignment of bones relative to one another, and understand their effects on muscles and fascia.

The course explores six common postural patterns frequently seen in clinical and movement settings. The first four address pelvic and spinal imbalances and their influence on the extremities and head, the fifth focuses on ribcage volume, and the sixth on the shoulders, arms, and hands.

To support the creation of posture-based movement programs, fourteen FAMO Practice 1 exercises are presented in the context of body reading. Each exercise is matched to specific postural patterns and classified as recommended, suitable, or suitable with modifications. The exercises can also be used as assessment tools in their own right.

For each exercise, proprioceptive (coordination) and interoceptive (feeling) criteria are discussed.

A practical set of FAMO Body Reading & Rebalancing evaluation forms is provided to support real-life implementation.
