We offer all modules for the G5 offshore crane course, for crane operators who will be working with lifting operations offshore. The G5 offshore crane course is divided into 5 modules. The training provides theory and practice in the use of various types of offshore cranes.
Course delivery:
The theoretical part of the offshore crane course is delivered as classroom teaching with lectures, discussions, group assignments, and exercises. It is also possible to complete the theoretical part of the course online, but physical attendance is required to take the exam. As part of the practical training, participants must complete 40 hours of training in a simulator.
Simulator training is conducted in a full-scale DNV GL Class A simulator at our premises in Grorud, Oslo. Participants are responsible for their own travel to/from Trondheim and accommodation. The training provider can assist with accommodation. After simulator training, participants are ready for practical offshore operation, 75 hours with an approved mentor.
Learning process:
The purpose of this course is to provide operators and others involved in lifting operations with basic knowledge, understanding, and skills. This is achieved through thorough training on a full-scale DNV GL Class A crane simulator, supported by a program of lectures and instructions. The course will cover different types of loads and external forces that affect the load on the crane and boat. Practical training with a mentor for 75 hours. This part must be arranged by the candidate and/or the company, and a mentor agreement must be signed between the candidate, the company, and the training provider. The course concludes with a practical test with an independent examiner.
