This 3-day course offers a comprehensive introduction to drilling operations, equipment, safety procedures, and basic well control concepts. It aims to prepare participants for their roles in various drilling environments, including onshore and offshore drilling rigs.
Course content:
1) Introduction to Drilling Operations:
• Overview of drilling fundamentals, including types of wells, drilling techniques, and the lifecycle of a well.
2) Roles and Responsibilities on a Drilling Rig:
• Learning the functions and duties of rig personnel, including drillers, derrickmen, roughnecks, and toolpushers.
3) Drilling Rig Types and Components:
• Understanding the various types of drilling rigs (land, jack-up, semi-submersible, drillship) and their components.
4) Safety in Drilling Operations:
• Introduction to safety protocols, hazard identification, and emergency response procedures in drilling environments.
5) Drilling Equipment and Tools:
• Familiarization with key drilling tools and equipment, such as drill bits, drill pipes, blowout preventers (BOPs), and mud pumps.
6) Basic Well Control Concepts:
• Understanding primary well control concepts, such as hydrostatics, kick detection, and shut-in procedures.
