We provide e-learning course about chemical awareness. The chemical awareness e-learning course is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the types of chemicals used in offshore environments and the associated risks.

This course equips learners with the knowledge to identify hazardous chemicals, understand their impact on health and the environment, and implement safety measures in compliance with legislative requirements. Key skills gained include:
• Identifying chemical types, forms, and their offshore uses
• Understanding the effects of chemical exposure and risk management measures
• Knowledge of chemical classification, labelling, and safe handling practices
Course content:
1) Introduction to Offshore Chemicals:
• Overview of chemical types, their forms, and their applications in offshore environments.
2) Risk Assessment and Safety Data Sheets (SDS):
• Learning the importance of chemical risk assessments and interpreting Safety Data Sheets to manage substances safely.
3) Chemical Exposure and Effects:
• Explanation of exposure routes, potential health impacts, and environmental consequences of hazardous chemicals.
4) Control Measures and PPE:
• Overview of best practices, control measures, and specific PPE requirements when handling hazardous substances
5) Legislation and Hazard Communication:
• Understanding the legislative framework, including classification, labelling, packaging, and transportation requirements, along with hazard pictograms.
6) Safe Storage, Disposal, and Incident Response:
• Guidelines for the safe storage, disposal of hazardous materials, and initial actions to mitigate chemical incidents
Assessment:
Includes an end-of-course assessment with an 80% pass mark required for certification
