Picture your first day at Ski & Sail Lyngen. Full of anticipation, we set sail from Tromsø. The sun hangs low in the west, showing us the way with long shadows of the boat and mountains around.

Content:
As we glide north on a deep blue mirror, the stress of everyday life disappears with each nautical mile away from the city. Then you see it. Around the next headland they suddenly appear. The mighty Lyngen Alps! At first only small white teeth on the horizon. Then they grow. And grow. And grow. Raising from the sea like petrified giants. Bigger and bigger. We sail closer. Until they fill the entire field of vision to our east. Towering towards the sky. In all shades of red, orange and yellow from the low evening sun. With their pointy peaks, sharp ridges and mighty faces. The adventure is on!

Program
From Tromsø to Lyngen and back to Tromsø

This trip starts and ends in Tromsø. The Lyngen Alps rise to over 1800 meters above the fjord, and are one of the most spectacular mountain areas we have in Norway. This trip is dedicated to this wonderful peninsula, and not least the surrounding mountain islands; Kågen, Arnøya, Vannøya and Ringvassøya. Here we find both large steep peaks and more mellow snowy slopes to choose from. All with fantastic views of the sea and mountains. An incredibly rich and exciting area for ski touring and sailing. On these trips we can get both powder snow, spring slush, blizzards and wind slabs. And our guides know exactly where the best conditions are.

Ski touring and summits in Lyngen
Ski & Sail Lyngen is the trip for you who want to sail to the mountain, put on your skis and skins at the beach, tour up to the peaks and ski some of the most beautiful mountains Norway has to offer! An adventure for you who like challenges and being outside! And for you who want to experience something unique, wild, raw and beautiful. Whether you have a lot of ski touring experience, or if you have only been ski touring for a season or two.

A normal day at Ski & Sail
We arrange all our Ski & Sail trips with a skipper and a ski guide per boat. We plan to go skiing every day, but of course according to weather and conditions. If it’s windy and snowing one day, and the mountains are not tempting, we hoist sails and leave behind some of the nautical miles we’re going to cover. If someone wants a break day during the trip, that is also completely allowed! After ski touring and summit climbs during the day, we spend the afternoon sailing to the next port or anchorage and prepare for a new peak for the next day.

This is an active trip where the experiences out in nature get full focus. Whether it’s behind the helm or with skis on your feet. We can worry about being tired and sore when we get home!

With varied groups onboard
On most of our Ski & Sail trips, we sail two or more boats in tandem. Depending on the number of people registered. With several boats, we try to divide into boat teams and ski groups according to skill level, wishes and prior experience. We often also set up two different trips of different lengths per skiing day. So you can choose whether you want to go on the long or short trip that day. With open groups onboard, there will of course be a difference in skiing level inside each group, but we quickly become a good team on board and we are all flexible!

Day 1: Ship o'hoi - we meet and cast off
Day 2: First ski tour!
Day 3 - 4: Nord-Lenangen and the Lyngen peninsula
Day 5 - 6: Kågen, Arnøya or Vannøya
Day 7: Last summit and return to the Paris of the North
