From August 24, 2023, anyone using or handling diisocyanates and diisocyanate-containing mixtures and products must have completed safe use training. MDCO offers such training in some variants.
MDCO in collaboration with FIDL, offers a game-based e-learning course with a follow-up webinar/digital meeting. Available languages in the e-learning is norwegian, english and polish. At the webinar, an occupational hygienist will do a short repetition of some important points from the e-learning and there will be time to ask questions. Registration is done in the registration form on this page.
Course content
- What are diisocyanates
- Information and labelling of chemicals
- The health hazards of diisocyanates
- Risk factors
- Preventive measures
- Emergencies and First Aid
- Assistance to businesses
Training level
This course covers the basic level of diisocyanate training (level 1). For intermediate (level 2) and advanced level (level 3), there is a need for extended and specially adapted education. This can be done by one of our occupational hygienists, either as:
- FIDL e-learning course (level 1) + adapted digital or physical program (level 2 and/or 3)
- The entire course digitally or physically (levels 1-3).
Get in contact if you need level 2 or 3 or if you are uncertain which level you need.
Training level description
There are three different levels of training requirements, based on risk:
Level 1 - Basic level
Applies to those who use or handle products containing diisocyanates and the overseers to those who use products containing isocyanates. E.g. short-term work with low-volatile isocyanate products (construction foam, viscous glue, etc.).
Level 2 - Intermediate level – extended course is required
Applies to those who use products with diisoscyanates for the application of substances with e.g. spraying, rolling, dripping, cleaning, work in open spaces, etc. (e.g. spraying in a paint booth or processing of uncured products).
Level 3 - Advanced level – extended course is required
Applies to those who use products with diisocyanates with higher risk work, e.g. at higher temperatures (casting, processing hot uncured products above 45°C, spraying in open air or outside a paint booth).
