We provide virtual course about Check Point Cyber Security Engineering (CCSE) R82. This course provides students with the advanced knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience needed to deploy, manage, and monitor existing Quantum Security Environments.
Course description:
Students will learn how to deploy Management High Availability, provide advanced policy management, configure Site-to-Site VPN, provide advanced security monitoring, upgrade a Security Gateway, use Central Deployment tool to install hotfixes, perform an import of a Primary Security Management Server, and deploy ElasticXL Cluster.
Course goals:
Learn advanced concepts and develop skills necessary to design, deploy, and upgrade Check Point Security environments
Course outline:
Module 1 - Management High Availability:
• Explain the purpose and benefits of Management High Availability (MHA)
• Identify the key components and configurations of MHA
• Deploy and configure MHA in a distributed environment
• Validate and troubleshoot the failover process to ensure continuity of management operations
Module 2 - Advanced Policy Management:
• Enhance security policies using dynamic and updatable objects
• Create and manage advanced Network Address Translation (NAT) rules
• Configure security management systems operating behind NAT
• Apply best practices to streamline policy updates and branch office management
Module 3 - Site-to-Site VPN:
• Design and deploy site-to-site VPN communities for secure interconnectivity
• Analyze and interpret VPN tunnel traffic for troubleshooting and optimization
• Implement authentication using pre-shared keys and digital certificates with internal and external gateways
• Configure Link Selection, ISP Redundancy, and tunnel management features
• Build a fully functional VPN using internally managed Security Gateways
Module 4 - Advanced Security Monitoring:
• Explain the function and benefits of SmartEvent and Compliance Blade
• Configure event monitoring and alerting for proactive threat management
• Generate and interpret SmartEvent reports
• Enable Compliance Blade and apply best-practice security posture settings
• Evaluate regulatory compliance and security scores
Module 5 - Upgrades:
• Identify supported upgrade methods and deployment strategies
• Upgrade a Security Gateway using the latest tools and best practices
• Utilize the Central Deployment tool for efficient installation of hotfixes and updates
Module 6 - Advanced Upgrades and Migrations:
• Export and import Management Databases securely and efficiently
• Perform major version upgrades of Security Management Servers
• Execute database migrations in distributed environments
• Restore and import Primary Security Management Servers to maintain business continuity
Module 7 - ElasticXL Cluster:
• Describe the ElasticXL Cluster architecture and its operational purpose
• Deploy and verify an ElasticXL Security Gateway Cluster for scalable performance and resilience

Thomas Norbeck er uten tvil Norges ledende instruktør på opplæring innen Check Points produkter, og gjennomfører både sertifiseringskurs og bedriftsintern kurs på Check Point versjoner og produkter. Thomas sin nøkkelkompetanse ligger innen Check Point spesielt, men også nettverksteknologi og sikkerhet generelt. I tillegg har han vært involvert i flere IT- og infrastruktur-prosjekter både som teknisk ressurs og som prosjektleder.
I ulike perioder har Thomas jobbet som konsulent parallelt med at han har opparbeidet lang erfaring med utvikling, tilpasning og gjennomføring av skreddersydde kurs for bedrifter innen ulike sektorer. Blant annet har han laget og gjennomført nettverkskurs på fire ulike kontinenter.
Thomas Norbeck har 24 års erfaring med nettverk og sikkerhet både som instruktør og konsulent hos bl.a Azlan, A-Team, Ajourit og Curriculum før han begynte i Glasspaper i 2004. Han jobber i dag som Senior konsulent og instruktør for Glasspaper, samt at han er IT sjef og konsulentleder.

This course is recommended preparation for exam 156-315.82: Check Point Certified Security Expert (CCSE) R82. If you pass this exam (and have passed CCSA previously) you will receive the CCSE certification.
