Developing JavaServer Faces Web Applications With Ajax Using Sun Java Studio Creator (DTJ-2105): The Developing JavaServer Faces Web Applications With AJAX Using Sun Java Studio Creator course covers the basics of web applications programming using the asynchronous programming model.

The course discusses theories for properly assembling a well-designed web application. The primary focus of this course is the overview of JavaServer Faces and asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX) technologies. The course introduces pre-built JavaServer Faces and AJAX-based components in the Sun Java Studio Creator product to support these two concepts.

The course emphasizes use of these components (rather than their development), how they function, and the significant role they play in generating rich web-client applications. Numerous lab exercises are available to enhance the students´ learning experience.

Content:

Reviewing the Basic Web Programming Model

• Discuss the evolution of web application technology
• Describe the purpose of JavaServer Faces technology
• Describe how the Sun Java System Creator 2 Integrated Development Environment(IDE)uses JavaServer Faces technology
• Explain the components of a basic JavaServer Faces technology web application
• Use the Sun Java System Creator 2 IDE to build a basic web application

• Identify the components of a JavaServer Faces web-based application
• Describe the key concepts of the JavaServer Faces technology
• Use the Java Studio Creator 2 IDE to implement a web application that leverages JavaServer Faces technology

Understanding Asynchronous JavaScript and XML (AJAX)

• Describe the asynchronous web programming model
• Explain AJAX
• Describe the steps in an AJAX interaction
• List the advantages and disadvantages of using AJAX in a web application
• Incorporate an AJAX-enabled JavaServer Faces component into a web application

Using AJAX-Enabled JavaServer Faces Components

• List the AJAX-enabled JavaServer Faces components
• Describe the functionality of the AJAX-enabled JavaServer Faces components
• Describe the steps to develop a basic web application using AJAX-enabled JavaServer Faces components in the Sun Java Studio Creator 2 IDE
• Identify the disadvantages of using AJAX-enabled JavaServer Faces components

Målgruppe for kurset
Students who can benefit from this course are all levels of developers who would like to further their knowledge on web application design, architecture, JavaServer Faces, and AJAX technologies, and domain experts and corporate developers whose main function is to leverage available JavaServer Faces and AJAX-based web-tier components to build web applications (rather than build the actual components) using Sun Java Studio Creator.

To successfully complete this course, students should have:
• A familiarity with basic web application development
• A familiarity with JavaScript
• An understanding of object-oriented programming concepts
• A knowledge of the Java Web Component model
