This course illustrates the serious health, job performance and legal implications of alcohol and drug abuse, with particular attention given to the hazards of substance abuse in the maritime workplace.
The course describes the primary causes of eye injuries on the job: proper selection, use and care of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that is available to help prevent damage to the eye: and the immediate first-aid treatment procedures for the most common types of eye injuries.
This training is designed to create awareness of hearing-loss hazards in the maritime workplace: to underscore the importance of taking adequate precautions to prevent hearing damage: and to provide practical knowledge about the proper selection, use and maintenance of hearing-protection equipment.
This module will provide crewmembers with a better understanding of orders and communication with others and will contribute to good human relationships on board a ship.
