The z/OS MVS Systems Programmer Fundamentals course provides students with a solid introduction to the OS/390 environment with z/OS information added by the instructor.
|
It is intended for a broad range of people, including beginning system programmers, experienced operators, technical management staff, and application programmers. The course covers Mainframe Architecture, Virtual Storage Concepts, Control Blocks and Dumps, Batch Processing, On-line Processing, I/O Facilities, and MVS-z/OS Implementation and Initialization.
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:
• Understand the major characteristics of an MVS-z/OS system, including CPU facilities, I/O facilities, and storage facilities
• Understand the concepts of virtual storage and how it is implemented at the address space level in MVS-z/OS
• Identify the major steps involved in entering and processing batch work
• Trace the processing of an on-line transaction and describe the major components that make up a network
• Describe device types supported by MVS DASD
• Identify and explain the major steps required to build, tailor, initialize, and maintain an MVS-z/OS environment
