This course presents the technical aspects of the Sun StorageTek 6140 and 6540 products and how they relate to performance within a SAN topology.
|
Students will have the opportunity to adjust tunable parameters to achieve optimal performance. Students will use various IO tools for the labs. This course is designed to teach the student the skills necessary to analyze input/output from servers and make changes to storage systems to optimize performance. The course concentrates on storage system configuration and tunable parameters.
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
• Recognize the typical methods used to store data on disk drives
• Use tools to measure effectiveness of configuration changes
• Define "optimum" how good is "good" performance
• Calculate estimated performance stats given certain drive parameters
• Select the best number and types of drives for the application
• Select the best segment

Målgruppe for kurset
Students who can benefit from this course are those with:
• More than 2 year of hands-on Sun StorageTek 6000 hardware experience - Service Engineers, Partners and customers
• Experience with Windows, UNIX, Solaris, LAN/WAN fundamentals and TCP/IP 2. Two plus years experience with Storage Area Networks (SANs) and Fibre Channel topology
To succeed fully in this course, students should have:
