The Sun Storage 7000 Administration customer training course provides the students with the knowledge to successfully describe, configure, maintain, and administer software and hardware.
|
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
• Identify and describe the key features
• Identify and describe the physical architecture
• List and describe the configurable components
• List the available FRUs and CRUs
• Describe the available system interfaces(GUI/CLI)
• Install and configure the product
• Perform software and firmware upgrades
• Administer the product
• List unique FRU/CRUs
• Utilize available tools and scripts
• Collect data and analyze faults to troubleshoot system

Sun Storage System Functions and Features Overview
• ZFS, NFS, CIFS/SMB, iSCSI, FTP, SNMP, NDMP, NIS+, LDAP, NTP, HTTP
Sun Storage System Installation
• List Default Usernames/Passwords
• Define System Access SSH, ILOM, aktty, CLI, BUI
Sun Storage System User Interface
• Understand the BUI/CLI mirrored interface heirarchy
• Use the BUI efficiently, including drag-and-drop BUI configuration
• Locate the BUI the masthead, titlebar, side panel, and local navigation controls
Sun Storage System Configuration
• Perform the initial configuration of the Sun Storage System
• Configure additional networking IPMP, LACP, VLAN
• Configure network services DNS, NTP
• Configure directory services Active Directory, NIS, LDAP
• Configure Sun Remote Support services
• Configure Storage
• Configure Clustering
Sun Storage System Maintenance
• List unique FRUs/CRUs and replacement procedures
• Describe and implement the non-disruptive software upgrade procedure
• Explain the Maintenance concepts and RAS features FMA, ASR/SCRK, SNMP, SMTP, Service Tags, support files bundle
• Describe Data Recovery, ZFS journaling, snapshots, save/restore configuration file

• Create shares
• Set share quotas and reservations
• Configure share properties
• Manage protocol access (NFS, CIFS, HTTP, FTP, iSCSI)
• Administer snapshots
• Configure remote replication
Sun Storage System Status
• Monitor overall appliance status
• Customize your status summary
Sun Storage System Analytics
• Understand the features of analytics
• Observe key system statistics
• Archive statistics for later viewing
• Create custom worksheets for performance analysis
• Perform drill-down analysis
