Sun Ray technology is a secure, cost effective solution that delivers rich, virtual Windows, Linux or Solaris OS desktops to Sun Ray clients. The Sun Ray Server Software is centrally managed, enhancing security, reducing complexity and administration of the IT environment.

This five-day workshop introduces students to Sun Ray technology and software administration. Along with installing the Sun Ray Server Software 4.1, the students will be introduced to the architectural details of the software, providing a foundation to understand the individual features introduced in subsequent modules. These features include session mobility (hotdesking), the use of Server Groups for failover and load balancing, and device management of USB devices and printers. Additional virtualization topics such as Sun Ray Connector for Windows OS and Sun Secure Global Desktop Software are also introduced.

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
o Describe the architecture of the Sun Ray Server solution
o Perform the installation and configuration for the Sun Ray Software
o Manage Desktop units (DTUs) and their attached devices, smart cards, tokens and sessions
o Implement Failover Server Groups and session mobility (hotdesking)

Sun Microsystems
