The Sun Fire B1600 Blade Chassis Administration course provides students with the knowledge and skills required to support the installation, configuration, and continued maintenance of the Sun Fire B1600 Blade Chassis and integrated switch.
|
The courseware is directed toward audiences responsible for maintaining, supporting, and administering the Sun Fire B1600 Blade Chassis and components in their environment. Concepts, architectures, key features, and configuration techniques are included. Information on customer-installable hardware and replacement procedures as well as switch configuration, administration tasks, and troubleshooting is also offered within the course.
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
• Identify the features and physical components of the Sun Fire B1600 Blade Chassis • Identify the features of the Sun Fire B100s, B100x, B200x, B10n, and B10p blades • Identify the architecture of the Sun Fire B1600 Blade Chassis • Install the Sun Fire B1600, B100s, B100x, B200x, B10n, and B10p hardware • Configure the Sun Fire B1600 Blade Chassis server system controller (SSC) • Replace the hardware components of the Sun Fire B1600 Blade Chassis • Describe advanced network switching concepts • Prepare the Sun Fire B1600 Blade Chassis Switch for network configuration • Configure the Sun Fire B1600 Blade Chassis Switch for basic functions and advanced features • Configure Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.1Q VLANs • Configure second SSC failover • Troubleshoot the Sun Fire B1600 Blade Chassis and Switch Configurations

Students who can benefit from this course are partner field engineers, OEM support staff, post-sales channel support engineers, and the customer´s maintenance team. Additionally, system administrators and network administrators who are responsible for managing the Sun Fire B1600 blade chassis and integrated switch should benefit from this course. To succeed fully in this course, students should be able to: • Recognize and navigate through files and directories in the UNIX file system • Execute key commands (including OpenBoot PROM (OBP) commands) for installation, configuration, determining system status, and troubleshooting • Install and replace hot-swappable and non-hot-swappable server components and parts • Use Sun diagnostic utilities • Configure basic networking functions in a Solaris Operating System (Solaris OS)
