The Remote Replication Fundamentals course is intended to provide a review of remote replication fundamentals and key tasks necessary to implement Hitachi TrueCopy and HiCopy into today´s transport infrastructure.
|
The course is recommended as a resource tool for building your disaster recovery solution. You will learn the features and benefits of TrueCopy and HiCopy, their commands, performance, and configuration parameters. In addition, you will examine the various vendor products and technologies used in conjunction with the Hitachi software to deliver high availability, high performance data replication and disaster recovery. The course includes a major case study that presents both the challenges of data replication and best practices to achieve:
* Zero downtime
* Storage consolidation
* Better server usage
* Implementation of a redundant infrastructure
* Shorter backup time
* Lower TCO
Included in this training is a lab on products from CNT, Nishan, and Inrange.
LAB INFORMATION: The hands-on labs offered in this course might involve accessing equipment that resides at a location other than where the training is delivered.
Upon completion of this course, students should be able to:
* Describe the key features and operations of TrueCopy and HiCopy
* Identify TrueCopy commands and the operations of each
* Describe key TrueCopy specifications and performance factors
* Describe key TrueCopy troubleshooting scenarios and corrective actions
* List the steps to perform TrueCopy synchronous and asynchronous operations
* Install HiCopy and use HiCopy with Storage Navigator and Raid Manager CCI
* List key vendor products that enable Hitachi TrueCopy to meet the needs of Wide Area Networks
* Identify successful Wide Area Network configurations
* Describe storage protocol functions, components, and deployment considerations, and list key considerations for SAN deployment
* Identify WAN integration of TrueCopy over ESCON and Fibre Channel links and supported topologies, and identify typical WAN integration best practices

Målgruppe for kurset
This course is for Sun StorEdge 9990 customers, and sales or customer engineers who would like dedicated training on remote data replication solutions offered by TrueCopy and HiCopy.
To succeed fully in this course, students should have:
* A background in data processing and an understanding of direct-access storage device (DASD) subsystems and their basic functions
* A basic understanding of storage technologies: that is, SCSI, switches, and WAN
* Previously attended IESHDS-408: Sun StorEdge 9990 V Software Solutions
