The Parallel Sysplex Fundamentals course provides students with the foundation stone of the parallel sysplex series of classes and provides a full and detailed technical explanation of this important environment.
|
It is aimed at those who support and set up the parallel sysplex environment, and covers the reasons for and basic concepts behind parallel sysplex, the internals of the sysplex functions, and the basic process required to set up a sysplex.
Objective
• Explain why SP5 and OS/390 came about
• Understand the reasons for the Parallel Sysplex environment
• Discuss the concepts and implementation of the Parallel Sysplex
• Describe the current and planned levels of exploitation of the new features and applications
• Describe the facilities provided by XCF and their purpose and so understand how the sysplex is maintained
• Describe how sysplex data sharing facilities are invoked by various XES services
• Understand how the Workload Manager controls all work in the sysplex
• Discuss how CICS version4+ uses these features in a CICSplex
